What I Love About Video Art?!

Video art is a new representation of art through to combination of moving and still images mixing with the use of effects.  It’s not my favorite form of art however; it has several things I find of great value.  First is that video art has a means of capturing things in ways most people don’t normally see. There’s a certain quality about video art that always makes the footage look fresh or gorgeous.  Whether the video is a form of pictures, video, or both combined.  The second thing I find very appealing about video art is the ideas behind it.
When watching any video art piece at first you’re really confused have no idea what’s going on.  Video art, as a form of art, is more along the lines of the message trying to be conveyed.  For example, paintings, drawings, and sculpture are created based off a artists idea or emotion however they tend to be as the viewer sees them.  I think video art is different.  Video art to me is all about the message being conveyed throughout the use of technology.  Now what do I love most about video art?
The main aspect of video art that I love is the combination of technology with the creative side of an artist.  Technology is part of our world and will never fade.  And the ability to combine the two things I’m good at and love makes it all the better.  Even though my opinion of video art has a whole is very different, the concept of video art is, what I believe, outstanding.

  1. I think it is really important to understand art and video. It's more exciting when you can combine the two in an art form. The artist has more control of how the audience portrays the work and can really make people think

  2. I do agree that the message in video art is probably one of the most important parts of video art. Putting different images and clips together to convey the message is sometimes one of the more difficult parts. Also the fact that video art is a combination of technology and video is great to me too. It allows the creativity of the artist to take part in the video instead of just using the recorded video alone.

  3. I definitely agree that video can be confusing at first. Especially in Video 1, the first couple screenings we just like what is going on? but as we continued on in the class we saw some really cool pieces that had really powerful messages

  4. It isn't my favorite form of art either but I do agree that it is very interesting. It is also a very different sort of art that is conveyed in a unique manner that can create thought for the viewer more so than other art like paintings and sculptures. With video art being connected to technology, it opens up many options in what is available to do. Especially with the rate of which technology is growing.
